  1. The Old Low Light is a historic building within Clifford's Fort and close to the water's edge. Although it would be a very appropriate place to house a Heritage Centre, it's obvious from the photos here that renovation is needed. Also, appropriate adaptations would have to be made to meet standards required for public access.
Nothing is definite and nothing is going to happen overnight but we look forward to progress!

  2. We had a tour of the premises last week. Lots of rooms around corners, some practical old basic furniture left behind by previous occupants, a couple of broken windows [yobs!] and wonderful views from some upper windows.

  3. Only a few more days and we'll know for certain if the Old Low Light is to become the home of a Heritage Centre for North Shields.

  4. We have a mention in Fish Quay newsletter no 4, which will be delivered by volunteers to homes and businesses on and near the Fish Quay in the near future. If you don't get one, you'll be able to read it on line - the address will be here soon - or pick one up in the library.
